Lille youth centre

We welcome young people at Lille youth center!

An environment where young people can grow, create, and support each other.

The Lille Youth Center located in Tartu city center actually houses two youth centers: one (in the basement) is intended for young people aged 12-19 years, and the other (on the first floor) for young people aged  7-11 years.

At the youth center, young people can play board games and socialize with peers. In the youth center for the older target group, they can play billiards, table football, and Xbox. All activities taking place at the youth center are free for young people and have open participation.

Outside the youth center, youth work specialists support young people in writing their own initiative projects, organize training sessions, help organize city-wide events (for example, Tartu Youth Day, Tartu City Children's Protection Day), and visit schools to conduct activities introducing the youth center.

Our target groups

Ilmatsalu Youth Center is open to two age groups

Lilleke, target group 7-11 years old

Starting September 1, 2022, the Lille Youth Center will also be open to a younger target group, ages 7-11. Young people will have separate rooms from the older target group, allowing for a more personalized approach based on their age. The youth center is located on the first floor of the Lille Youth Center.

Lille, target group 12-19 years old

The Lille Youth Room (for ages 12–19) is located at Lille 9, on the basement level of the Tartu Youth Center (go down the stairs after entering through the front door).

At the Lille Youth Center, young people can play board games, pool, foosball, VR games, and Xbox. They can also listen to music, socialize with others, and participate in educational activities. The center hosts various events: pool tournaments, movie nights, guest visits, cultural evenings, celebrations of special occasions, and more. During school breaks, we offer special break programs, and the annual highlights include the Halloween youth party, the center’s Christmas party, and the spring youth café.

The youth center hosts a hiking club, a club that raises awareness about career planning, and a sex education club, all of which are open to all young people.

All activities held at the youth center are free of charge and open to all young people .

Activities at the Lille Youth Center take place Monday through Friday at 4:00 p.m. and are based on the following focus areas:

E Society and Environmental Protection

T Relationships with oneself and others

K Physical and Mental Health

N Cooking Club and Life Skills

R Digital Skills and Party Games

We spend our Saturdays in a peaceful atmosphere, enjoying music and relaxation.

Young people can plan their own events and activities for each day based on the focus areas, provided they notify the youth worker in advance.

Outside the youth center, youth workers can support young people in writing and carrying out their own projects. In addition, they conduct training sessions, help organize citywide events (such as Tartu Youth Day and Tartu City Child Protection Day), and visit schools to carry out activities that introduce the youth center.

Accessibility

Accessibility

The youth center welcomes everyone, regardless of their nationality, language, religion, beliefs, opinions, health status, sexual orientation, age, gender, or any other personal characteristic or trait.

The wall of the youth room features a sign language alphabet (finger spelling). There are also whiteboards and a digital whiteboard available for written communication. In the event of a fire or security alarm, flashing lights will signal the alert in addition to an audible alarm. Steps and door thresholds are marked with high-contrast tape.

The youth center has a ramp leading to the Lille youth room, but there is no wheelchair access to the restroom, the office, or other rooms. Renovation work will take place in the summer of 2026 to ensure that the youth room is equally accessible and usable for everyone.  Equipment (e.g., board games) is placed at a height that is also accessible to young people in wheelchairs. The youth center has several rooms where you can find an environment with the right level of lighting and visual stimulation for you.

To gain access to the building from the ramp, please call +372 5450 2232 (Director of the Lille Youth Center) or +372 53 829 835 (Administrative Manager)
