Lille youth centre

We welcome young people to the Lille Youth Center!

An environment where young people can grow, create, and support each other.

Located in downtown Tartu Lille Youth Center houses two youth rooms, one of which (in the basement) is intended for young people 12 to 19 years old and the other (on the first floor) for young people aged 7–11 years old.

At the youth center, young people can play board games and socialize with their peers; the youth room for the older age group also has a pool table, table soccer, and an Xbox. All activities held at the youth center are free for young people and open to everyone.

Beyond the activities of youth centers, youth work specialists can support young people in developing their own initiative projects, they conduct training sessions, help organize citywide events (such as Tartu Youth Day and Tartu City Child Protection Day), and visit schools to carry out activities that introduce the youth center.

Our Target Audiences

Starting September 1, 2022, the Lille Youth Center will also be open to a younger target group, ages 7-11. Young people will have separate rooms from the older target group, allowing for a more personalized approach based on their age. The youth center is located on the first floor of the Lille Youth Center.

The Lille Youth Center (for ages 12–19) is located at Lille 9, on the basement level of the Tartu Youth Center (go down the stairs after entering through the front door).

At the Lille Youth Center, young people can play board games, pool, table soccer, VR, and Xbox. They can also listen to music, socialize with others, and participate in educational activities. The youth center hosts a variety of events: pool tournaments, movie nights, guest visits, cultural evenings, celebrations of special occasions, and more. During school breaks, we offer special break programs, and some of the year’s favorite events include Halloween celebrations, youth sleepovers, the center’s Christmas party, and the spring youth café.

All activities held at the youth center are free of charge for young people and open to everyone.

Starting with the 2026–27 school year, our activities will focus on supporting youth-led initiatives and the work of themed clubs. We encourage young people to come forward with topics and ideas that matter to them, and we will provide support and opportunities to help bring those ideas to life.

Accessibility

The youth center welcomes everyone, regardless of their nationality, language, religion, beliefs, opinions, health status, sexual orientation, age, gender, or any other personal characteristic or trait.

There is a sign language alphabet (finger spelling) on the wall of the Lille youth center. There are also boards (a whiteboard and a digital board) that can be used for written communication. In the event of a fire or security alert, flashing lights will signal the emergency in addition to an audible alarm. Steps and door thresholds are marked with high-contrast tape.

The materials (e.g., board games) are placed at a height that is accessible to young people in wheelchairs. The youth center has several rooms where young people can find an environment with the right level of sound and visual stimulation for them.

For individuals with physical disabilities, the Lille Youth Center is accessible via a wheelchair lift. To arrange this, please call +372 5450 2232 (Director of the Lille Youth Center) or +372 53 829 835 (Administrative Manager).
