Major Events

The Tartu Youth Work Centre annually organizes 4 major events: Tartu Youth Party, Tartu City Children's Day, Tartu Youth Day, and Tartu Day of Wisdom. The Tartu Youth Work Centre also organizes various exciting activities for young people during school holidays, offering opportunities to spend their free time in a diverse and meaningful way.

Party with friends on Valentine's Day!

This year, the headliner is säm, the venue is Tartu Kammivabrik club building (Teguri 26, Tartu), and the theme overwhelmingly chosen was Y2K or early 2000s style.

The party will take place this year on Valentine's Day from 18:00 to 22:00. This is a great opportunity to spend an enjoyable evening full of music and activities with old and new friends in a safe environment.

Tartu Youth Party differs from other city-wide events organized by the Tartu Youth Work Center because an age limit has been set for the party – only young people who are older than 14 years are admitted.

This year marks the fifth anniversary of the Tartu Youth Party. The Tartu Youth Party is organized by the Tartu Youth Work Center and Tartu 2024 Extended, mentored by youth workers from the Tartu Youth Work Center. In preparing for the festival, the organizers must jointly decide on the headliner, venue, and, of course, the theme of the festival. The event is funded by the city of Tartu.

Once again, schoolchildren have the chance to take a breather for a week. As always, we want to offer young people a variety of opportunities to do something interesting and different during their school break. This time, however, we’re taking it a bit easier, because the long winter has really drained our energy reserves, and while the sun is already warm, it hasn’t quite managed to recharge our batteries yet.

On Monday, April 13, Liisi, our youth worker and hiking club leader, will gather a group of young people to spend the day in Luunja. Together, they will visit the Luunja Youth Center and then participate in the Emajõgi educational program, where they will learn more about our beloved home river and its surroundings. They will also play a hiking game together and, of course, have a picnic!

The Tartu-Luunja route is served by a county bus. The trip starts at the Tartu Bus Station. Meet at 12:50 p.m. in front of the Terminal at Tartu Bus Station! Bus No. 849 departs from Platform 9 at 1:05–1:22 p.m. Luunja stop on Räpina Road; it’s a 15-minute walk to the Luunja Culture and Leisure Center. The return trip starts from the Luunja School stop; bus no. 233 departs at 4:02 p.m. and arrives at Tartu Bus Station at 4:25 p.m.

Participation, including the bus ride, is free for young people.

On Tuesday, April 14, we’ll be tackling environmental issues!

From 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., you can visit the waste management facility (108 Tähe Street, Tartu) and learn more about how our waste recycling process works.

We will be traveling there together with the Lillekese team on a city bus. We ask everyone interested to meet at the Lillekese building by 1:20 p.m. or to take bus No. 4 on their own at 1:41 p.m. Bus No. 4, Kesklinn VI-Karete bus stop.

At the waste transfer station, visitors walk around with a staff member and put on reflective vests.

Then, at 4:00 p.m., the big trash cleanup competition kicks off! We’ll meet at 3:45 p.m. at the Lennuk café on the Annelinna side of Turu Bridge. The cleanup will take place along the banks of the Emajõgi River. Prizes for the top performers! Note: If possible, please bring rubber gloves and (biodegradable) trash bags from home! During this time (approx. 3:30–5:30 p.m.), all centers will be closed and everyone will be out cleaning together.

On Wednesday, youth centers around the world will celebrate World Culture Day.

On Thursday, April 16, the now-traditional city camp will take place, this time at the Anne Youth Center from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM; other youth centers will be closed during this time.

We’re putting the focus back on environmental protection. In the morning, we’ll be working with youth workers; from 2:00–3:00 PM, we’ll meet with the Defense League and the Home Daughters; from 3:00–4:00 PM, we’ll cook together with the Food Circle at the Annekese Youth Center, and from 4:00–5:00 PM at the Anne Youth Center, where we’ll discuss food waste; after that, we’ll play camp games and just have fun!

On Friday, April 17, the Noorteka Spring Break Tournament: Featuring Fortnite will take place, organized by our digital youth worker Gerd. This is an online Battle Royale solo tournament where participants can put their skills, tactics, and nerves to the test in intense Fortnite matches.

The tournament will take place on April 17, 2026, starting at 5:00 p.m., and will be streamed on the GameInTartu Twitch channel. Participants will play from their homes or a suitable location, and more detailed information about the schedule, rules, and tournament logistics will be sent to registered participants prior to the event.

To participate , players must be at least 13 years old, adhere to the principles of fair play, and be willing to join the organizers’ communication channel to receive necessary information on the day of the tournament. (This event is not sponsored, endorsed, or administered by Epic Games, Inc.)

The registration link is here!

During the week, there will also be a 5-day digital decluttering challenge, where we’ll try to give our digital clutter a spring cleaning.

Otherwise, youth centers remain open and operational Monday through Friday. During school breaks, the centers are closed on weekends.
