In the Ilmatsalu youth and community center, both urban and rural environments, with their distinct lifestyles, are intertwined in a special symbiosis. Significant changes are taking place in the Ilmatsalu area: the construction of new residential buildings will soon begin, bringing new people. However, there are also people who have lived here their entire lives and keep long-standing traditions alive. There are also those who have left in the meantime and now returned, as well as 'newcomers' who have recently moved to the area and found or created a home for themselves. Some temporarily, some for longer.
All age groups participate in activities at the library, youth or community center, and elsewhere in the region. Sometimes all together, often separately. Activities are carried out at a pace and time that suits each individual.
The building housing the Ilmatsalu Youth Center has a long history. The former municipal building and a one-time part of a fish farm is today a community meeting place. The youth center is located on the second floor, while the ground floor houses community rooms used by handicraft and sewing clubs, as well as other interested individuals.
The Mirror Hall offers opportunities for both training and leisure activities. Various activities and events take place outdoors and indoors. In the basement, fantastic empty fish pools are waiting for their time.
There is also room for new ideas and active participants.
Although the functions of the house have changed over time, people's desire to uphold traditions and be open to new things has been preserved.
The community house is a place where people come to engage in activities and socialize. Such a place is important in today's rapidly changing world. You can move at your own pace, choose when and for what purpose to come, how to participate, and with whom to spend time.
This is a space where you don't have to buy a ticket or fulfill an obligation – you can simply be and act as you please.
