The youth room at Lille Youth Centre is accessible from today via a new ramp

On today's International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Tartu Youth Work Centre is pleased to announce that the youth room at Lille Youth Centre is now accessible to wheelchair users. The installation of the ramp is part of an ongoing innovation program project, which aims to improve the accessibility of Tartu youth centers in every sense. The primary goal of the innovation program is to integrate young people with visual, mobility, and hearing impairments into the activities of youth centers.

The Innovation Program is a long-term undertaking that began already in 2017. Within the framework of the project, training sessions have been held for Tartu youth workers, cooperation has been developed with Tartu schools and various organizations, and services and youth centers have been developed. One notable development at the youth centers is the creation of ramps.

Centre youth workers have so far been conducting activities and establishing initial contacts with young people in Tartu schools. However, the clear goal is to bring young people to youth centres in the future and involve them in the activities there. Making youth centres physically accessible is an important step in this direction.

The activities of the Innovation Program are funded within the framework of the program co-financed by the European Social Fund, approved by the Minister of Education and Research and implemented by the Education and Youth Board, titled "Inclusion of Youth at Risk of Exclusion and Improving Youth Employability".

A Children's Day bursting with joy and youthful energy!

The theme of this year’s Child Protection Day was the question: “A young person speaks—are you listening?” The need to be seen, heard, and truly listened to became clear right from the first preparatory meeting, where young volunteers had the chance to share which topics they consider important in the daily lives of children and young people. Almost without exception, all participants highlighted today’s fast-paced lifestyle—home,

Youth workers from the Tartu Youth Work Center on a study trip to Portugal

From April 19–26, youth workers from the Tartu Youth Work Center participated in a study trip to Lisbon, Portugal, as part of the Erasmus+ program, to learn about local street youth work methods, non-formal education, and ways to support young people in the NEET situation. Study trips give youth workers the opportunity to step outside their usual work environment for a moment, learn about different practices, and bring the knowledge and effective solutions they gain back to their own community (Pavlakias and
