Tartu Youth Work Center opens an e-youth center

Due to the state of emergency in the country, the youth centers of the Tartu Youth Work Centre have been closed to visitors since last Friday. However, the provision of youth work services to young people has not been suspended. Thanks to the current situation, youth workers are actively developing their digital competencies to be available to young people through smart youth work.

Since the beginning of this week, young people have been able to participate in youth center activities via Instagram (@annenoortekeskus, @ilmatsalunoortekeskus, and @lillenoortekeskus). Live broadcasts have featured cooking clubs and an entrepreneurship club, where participants could solve various quizzes, learn juggling, design clothes, and simply interact with youth workers.

Starting today, communication will become even more direct, as Tartu Youth Work Center is opening its own e-youth center, similar to Valga Open Youth Center. The e-youth center has been created in the free Discordapplication, which works as an internet phone. The Tartu Youth Work Center server hosts various chat rooms (for example, separate rooms have been created for the Anne, Ilmatsalu, and Lille youth centers, as well as shared rooms where you can get help with your studies, share your cooking achievements, find friends to playonline games with, and more). In the chat rooms, young people can talk to each other and youth workers both by writing and by actually speaking through a microphone.

All young people wishing to join the e-youth center can download the application on a computer from the website https://discordapp.com/ or on a smart device from the Google Play Store and the App Store.

The e-youth centre is open from today starting at 12:00. The link to join the server can be found on the Tartu Youth Work Centre's Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Tartu.ntk/ and the youth centres' Instagram accounts.

This approach goes beyond merely taking into account differences in origin, gender, abilities, or orientation; it is aimed at removing barriers, expanding opportunities for marginalized and minority groups, and ensuring their full inclusion in all activities. School Break City Camp – One Day, One Place, Lots of Fun!

We put together a varied program for every school break, but City Camp Day is the most special day of the entire break. On this day, Tartu’s youth gather at a single youth center. While all five centers are usually open, during City Camp, activities take place in just one location. This gives young people the chance to visit a place they might not otherwise go to on a daily basis
