Kaide-Liis Suurväli, director of the Anne Youth Center, looks back on her visit to Andre Juustufarm.
On the last Tuesday of January, January 28th, we visited Andre Cheese Farm in Tartu County with the young people. Upon arrival and exiting the bus, the young people's initial reaction was a bit hesitant, while the youth workers looked at each other with the thought: "Finally, some fresh air!"
We began our tour in the cheese processing rooms, where we learned that Andre Cheese Farm produces many, many tons of cheese annually, requiring even more milk. For example, one cheese wheel weighs 12 kg. Our second stop on the tour was the cow shed. We got to pet the cows; there were about 400 of them in the shed. The youngest calves were one to two days old. We concluded the tour at the farm shop, where we tasted their products, i.e., cheese. The selection was vast – Andre Classic and Andre cheese fudge turned out to be everyone's favorites. As we headed back to the bus, a slight sadness was visible in the young people's eyes that we had to leave already, but that only means one thing – we made the right decision to visit Andre Cheese Farm.
