We are opening outdoor youth centers

Starting on May 18, Tartu Youth Work Center youth centers will begin operating outdoor youth centers. By decision of the government, contact learning in hobby activities and education, as well as in youth centers, is again permitted from May 15, provided that there are no more than ten people in a group of learners, the movement of groups is organized in a dispersed manner, and shared items are disinfected after use.

Since the beginning of the emergency situation, all youth centres of the Tartu Youth Work Centre have been closed. As restrictions are eased, youth centres will gradually begin to reopen, starting with outdoor youth centre solutions. Anne, Ilmatsalu, and Lille youth centres will open outdoor youth centres in their outdoor areas. Activities will be carried out in compliance with emergency safety requirements, and the internal rules of the youth centres have also been updated with new regulations. The number of young people participating in activities is limited.

The activities of the outdoor youth centres continue to be as diverse as those in regular youth centres. Table tennis tables have recently arrived in the outdoor areas of all youth centres, where interested individuals can practice, and contactless team games and other exciting activities are organized. For example, at Ilmatsalu Youth Centre, one can play disc golf, and at Anne Youth Centre, football and basketball. In case of rain, activities are planned to take place under tents, and young people are provided with handwashing and toilet facilities. All equipment used is disinfected, and the principle of maintaining distance is observed. Young people visiting the outdoor youth centres are asked to dress according to the weather and bring their own water bottle.

Outdoor youth centers' opening hours during the period 18.05-24.05:

Anne Youth Center: Mon, Thu and Fri 14:00-19:00

Ilmatsalu Youth Center: Wed 14:00-19:00 and Sat 12:00-17:00

This means ensuring equal access, active participation, and a sense of belonging for all young people. This approach goes beyond merely taking into account differences in origin, gender, abilities, or orientation; it is aimed at removing barriers, expanding opportunities for marginalized and minority groups, and ensuring their full inclusion in all activities.
