A new art and design club has started at Ilmatsalu Youth Center

As you may have read in our previous news, a new volunteer from Spain, Violeta, is working at Ilmatsalu Youth Center. In addition to the cooking club, which takes place on Fridays, Violeta now also runs an art and design club on Wednesdays at 3:00 PM.

One of the general ideas of the club is to carry out various activities related to material reuse. For example, with young people, we sewed shopping bags and fruit and vegetable bags from old curtains and fabric scraps for the youth center. The bags were immediately put to use when a youth worker bought products from the store for the youth center's overnight stay. Also, the pillowcases in the Xbox room and the flags decorating the youth center are awaiting renewal. The plan is to sew decorations and costumes for Halloween activities. One day, however, the young people spontaneously crafted fun little soft animals.

In addition to sewing, we do other activities in the club, such as painting emotions, painting pictures on fabric, making plaster hands, and decorating them with beautiful paintings. The hands will be used as decorations for Halloween week at the youth center.

Many exciting things are still planned. For young people to take part in the exciting activities of our Violeta Art and Design Club, we welcome them to the Ilmatsalu Youth Centre, Järve tee 8, on Wednesdays from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

School Break City Camp – One Day, One Place, Lots of Fun!

We put together a varied program for every school break, but City Camp Day is the most special day of the entire break. On this day, Tartu’s youth gather at a single youth center. While all five centers are usually open, during City Camp, activities take place in just one location. This gives young people the chance to visit a place they might not otherwise go to on a daily basis
