The Lille Youth Center, part of the Tartu Youth Work Center, offers young people a wide range of opportunities for participation and personal development. Schools can come to us to organize project days or encourage students to join clubs. The clubs operating at the Lille Youth Center include the Hiking Club, Cooking Club, Book Club, Career Club, and the sex education club “Seks vä?”.
In addition, we organize major citywide events, and we encourage young people to get actively involved in the organizing teams. We offer various educational workshops to schools. The Lille Youth Center is hosting a health-themed workshop focused on managing anxiety, which will be conducted in the form of an engaging forum theater.
We recently had a visit from sixth-grade students at Annelinna Gymnasium, one of whom summed up the experience as follows:
The 6th-grade students visited the Lille Youth Center and had a great day there.
The youth workers there, Riin and Liisi, were friendly and helpful.
They told us about the Lille Youth Center using very simple sentences. The center hosts various events, such as pool tournaments and movie nights. There was a fun game on TV about the city’s youth centers. We also watched videos on TV where kids from the hiking club went on a hike.
Finally, the boys made pancake batter and the girls baked cakes.
The pancakes were very tasty. We ate them with jam.
After the program, we stayed at the Lille Youth Center to play. We played the piano, table soccer, pool, hide-and-seek, jumped on the trampoline, and swung on the swings.
It was a really fun school day with my friends. I’d love to have more days like this. I’d definitely like to go back there again.
