A youth overnight event has taken place three times at Lilleke, with the last one held on the last Friday of May. The youth overnight event is very popular among young people, as they get to stay at the youth center for the entire night. Before the overnight stay, we divide tasks among the young people – someone plans evening activities, someone organizes dinner, and someone is responsible for breakfast.
This time, the young people worked in teams. Those responsible for food came up with a menu, removed or added items as necessary, and went shopping for groceries with a youth worker. Each group was given a budget to stick to in the store. Sticking to a budget is something that still needs work.
The youth kitchen started with a big cooking session where all young people could participate. In addition to making sausage rolls, fresh salad had to be cut, fruits sliced, and the table set with other delicious food. Everything left over from dinner could be eaten in the morning, and so it was. The evening concluded with a joint movie screening, card games, and making beds. Every young person had the opportunity to set up their sleeping spot wherever they wished. Thus, there was someone's bed in every corner of both rooms.
In the morning, making pancakes took longer, and some young people were therefore able to sleep an hour longer. Overall, the young people enjoyed this activity and are already looking forward to another youth center overnight event.
