Tartu Youth Work Center moves its activities to Car-Free Avenue!

In addition to their daily activities at the Anne, Ilmatsalu, and Lille youth centers, Tartu Youth Work Center youth workers will also be out and about in downtown Tartu with the outdoor youth center from the beginning of July until August. We are available for young people every day from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., during which time young people can take part in a variety of developmental activities.

All days are structured to include both more active and calmer activities and training sessions. Various partners are involved to ensure that every young person finds exactly what they need. However, the main partners are the young people themselves, who have the opportunity throughout this time (and indeed at other times) to have a say in what activities they would like to see in the Vabaduse puiestee youth area.

In addition to the youth area on Vabaduse puiestee, mobile youth workers have also been active in the city since July. Mobile youth workers establish contact with young people in the city, help them find their way to youth centers, and encourage them to participate in activities on Vabaduse puiestee. We believe that the outdoor youth center is a great opportunity for young people in Tartu (and why not from further afield) to find their way to youth work and the various opportunities it offers.

Recently, the youth workers of Tartu Youth Work Center have also completed training to better support the participation of young people with special needs in youth work. When planning activities, consideration has been given to ensuring that young people who might otherwise go unnoticed in the city can also participate – we include sign language interpreters in some activities, provide wheelchair access to our premises, and some activities are structured to help understand the daily lives of young people with special needs.

We invite you to visit our outdoor youth center on Vabaduse Boulevard daily from July 3rd to August 8th, with opening hours from 15:00 to 19:00!

This approach goes beyond merely taking into account differences in origin, gender, abilities, or orientation; it is aimed at removing barriers, expanding opportunities for marginalized and minority groups, and ensuring their full inclusion in all activities. School Break City Camp – One Day, One Place, Lots of Fun!

We put together a varied program for every school break, but City Camp Day is the most special day of the entire break. On this day, Tartu’s youth gather at a single youth center. While all five centers are usually open, during City Camp, activities take place in just one location. This gives young people the chance to visit a place they might not otherwise go to on a daily basis
