Already this week, from Monday to Friday, all five Tartu youth centers have put together a multitude of activities for young people to spend their school holiday actively and excitingly.
The five-day break program, which starts today, includes both the usual activities at youth centers and various educational, horizon-broadening, and integration-promoting activities. For example, on Tuesday, 12-19-year-olds can look forward to a conflict resolution workshop –a skill that will serve everyone well. Younger children will also have the opportunity to learn various drawing techniques. On Tuesday, a large group of young people from Kharkiv, Ukraine, will also be visiting the Anne Youth Center. Together with them, local young people will have the opportunity to participate in a pottery workshop, where they will make national birds, and then have time to get to know each other and spend time together.
On Wednesday, young people can look forward to a trip to Pärnu County, where they will jointly visit an Alpaca farm and, if possible, get acquainted with the Viljandi Youth Centre on the way back. Participation in the trip requires pre-registration and parental permission, but participation is free. All youth centres are also open, offering young people a cooking club, an active Wednesday, and art and phobia-themed activities. On Thursday, for the second time, everyone will gather at the Anne Youth Centre for a fun city camp. There will be a mini zoo, lessons on wounds, baklava baking, and an opportunity to navigate a dark path in the basement.
The week will conclude with making reflectors, playing football with cup glasses, exercising in Anne House's mat hall, cooking, and also making stop-motion videos with young people. Those interested are also invited to participate in a prop-making workshop at the Vanemuine Theatre! It's an opportunity to get acquainted with theatre art and to craft a fake, yet realistic, object with your own hands.
All activities are free for young people! Pre-registration is required for certain activities. Further information can be found on the website https://tntk.tartu.ee/koolivaheajad/ or from youth workers at the youth centers.
