Today, November 17, is International Prematurity Day, andAnne Youth Centeris joining the call to turn outdoor lighting purple for one evening.
One in ten children is born into this world prematurely, i.e., before the 37th week of pregnancy. It has become a tradition that on the evening of November 17th, World Prematurity Day, the world turns lilac in honor of prematurely born children, their families, and all supporters. Lilac is the characteristic color of prematurity, symbolizing the beginning of life and optimism.
The lighting solution for the house is provided by Sound Group OÜ, whose representative, Ülari Toots, came up with the idea to join the charity event. Margit Kink, the head of Anne Youth Center, did not hesitate when the lighting technician made the offer: “I have seen firsthand the concerns of families with prematurely born children, and offering support is the least we can do. I am glad that this charity event is drawing more attention to the issue, as these families often face their worries alone.”
