The main prize of the Hack@Youth hackathon went to the youth information app “Lyfe Eesti”

On January 21-22, the Hack@Youth hackathon for digital tools in youth work took place at Anne Youth Center, where the main prize of 1000 euros was won by the app “Lyfe Eesti”, which provides information on youth centers.

Over two days, five teams consisting of youth work and IT professionals developed very different solutions, all of which addressed bottlenecks in today's youth work. For example, several teams sought to find solutions to simplify the registration of young people at youth centers or events. The success of the grand prize-winning team 'Lyfe Eesti' lay in their idea's very practical approach to simplifying the lives of youth workers and the possibility of wider adoption in other regions beyond Tartu. The team members promise to have the first demo with information from Tartu youth centers working by spring.

Many contributed to the success of the hackathon. We would like to thank our cooperation partners, the University of Tartu, and the Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps Agency, which supported the “Digital Tools for Youth Work” project through the Erasmus+ program. We also extend our gratitude to our wonderful sponsors, without whom the event could not have taken place.

The hackathon was part of a long-term cooperation project “Digital Tools for Youth Work,” within which various digital tools for youth work will be completed by the end of 2022 and gathered on a common platform for convenient use.

School Break City Camp – One Day, One Place, Lots of Fun!

We put together a varied program for every school break, but City Camp Day is the most special day of the entire break. On this day, Tartu’s youth gather at a single youth center. While all five centers are usually open, during City Camp, activities take place in just one location. This gives young people the chance to visit a place they might not otherwise go to on a daily basis
