When a great opportunity arises to spend time with friends in a creative environment and at the same time do good in the local community, it must be seized. And this is exactly what the young people of the Tartu Youth Work Centre decided to do. When Dragana (from Serbia), our European Solidarity Corps volunteer, presented an idea to the youth that was at that moment only an idea in her head, 6 young people immediately jumped on board and wanted to participate in this project. Together, they expanded the idea and turned it into something amazing – thus the 'Cat in a Bag' project began.
The main idea behind this initiative is to create a safe environment for young people to gather, brainstorm, think, and plan together. Young people have all the necessary materials and guidance to bring their ideas and visions to life. The general concept of the 'Cat in a Bag' project is to collaboratively design and print unique fabric shopping bags and sell them to anyone who wishes to contribute to a good cause. How does this help? All proceeds from the sale of the shopping bags are donated to shelters for homeless cats across Estonia. So far, the project group has been active on Instagram, conducting marketing and thereby reaching its target audience. The team's next steps involve brainstorming designs, refining them, applying them to the shopping bags, and finally launching the business for all customers. The bags can be ordered from anywhere in Estonia and will be delivered by post. In Tartu, it is possible to receive the shopping bag in person. The group's enthusiasm and determination will only grow with time, and the 'Cat in a Bag' team hopes the project will be successful and the shopping bags will be warmly received by the public. Let's do good for cats together!
