Every autumn, we incorporate nature and its beauty into the activities of the youth center. The end of September and beginning of October is a wonderful time to go outside, walk around the city, and enjoy nature.
One of the annual activities in the Lilleke youth room is leaf printing art using fallen leaves. This means that, to begin with, we go outside with the young people and look for fallen leaves. Each young person chooses a few favorite leaves, collects them, and returns to the youth room. As a joint activity, we take out gouache paints, brushes, and a water container. Then we observe how a leaf has two sides — one side has deeper and more noticeable patterns, and we paint over that side with gouache. After that, we use a printing technique to capture the leaf patterns onto regular A4 paper using the paints.
This is a very simple activity that also allows you to go outside and create beautiful works of art. Young people can take their artworks home if they wish, but with their consent, we will hang them on the youth room wall instead. In Lilleke, there is an art wall where a significant number of artworks by young people and youth workers have accumulated over three years.
