Summer is halfway through, which means the youth work camp summer is in full swing. This year, Tartu youth work camp participants are working in Maxima stores, on strawberry fields, and dismantling smart devices at Foxways, among other places. For the first time, youth work camp participants are also working at Naerumaa kindergarten, assisting kindergarten teachers.
As every year, Tartu Youth Work Center also welcomed youth work camp participants to its premises this summer. There was work available at the Anne, Lille, and Ilmatsalu youth centers. Together, outdoor areas and basements were cleaned, a mini-ramp was painted, various maintenance tasks were performed, and old furniture was dismantled.
This summer, 161 young people aged 13-19 from Tartu will find work in the work camp. This year, there were more jobs than usual available for 13-14-year-olds, for most of whom this will be their first contractual work experience. On August 5-6, a gathering of Tartu County work camps will take place in Valgemetsa, organized this time by Tartu Youth Work Camp Active.
