Tartu Youth Work Centre staff Kristina, Aveli, Liisa, and Helen participated from November 21-26 in sunny Alicante, Spain, in connection with the well-being project aimed at young people, “ESTEEM – Youth work responses to young people well-being”. In addition to Estonia, people working with youth from Spain, Latvia, and Bulgaria also participated in the project.
This project will last approximately two years, and the aim of this meeting was to test, provide feedback on, and improve the materials created so far (mapping report, collection of good practices and methods). During the project, a well-being themed board game and a mobile application are also being developed. During the meeting, participants got to know each other, gave various presentations, discussed methods supporting mental health, and exchanged experiences between countries. The Esteem core group will continue to work with the feedback received from the meeting, and the relevant outputs should be available to all interested parties by March 2024 at the latest.
In our free moments, we got to explore Santa Barbara Castle, located high on a hill, which offered beautiful views of the city, colorful streets in the old town, and listen to the waves lapping on the white sandy beach, recalls Kristina, one of the participants – “We believe that Alicante remained in the hearts of all participants with its kind and warm nature.”
