On May 15th, an adventure day will take place: Diversity Enriches

On May 15th, a joint adventure day "Diversity Enriches" will take place with the Tartu Youth Work Center and the Tartu Nature House. The Estonian Sign Language Society is also a cooperation partner. With the adventure day, we draw attention to natural diversity in its broader sense – plants, people, nature conservation, environmentally friendly activities, and so on.

The adventure day activities take place at your own chosen pace and time. It is possible to complete two trails of different difficulty levels. The easier and shorter trail is in the nature house park area and is intended for the younger members of the family. The longer trail, not necessarily more difficult in content but more diverse (keeping the adventure day's theme in mind), leads to the botanical garden and back. On both trails, participants must perform activities, answer questions, and gain new knowledge. The trails can be completed at a suitable pace with your family, companion, friend, or pet. The longer trail can also be completed with a wheelchair. It is important to complete the trails before the end of the adventure day.

In cooperation with the Estonian Sign Language Society, a sign language cafe will also be opened in the courtyard of the Lille youth center, where it is possible to both learn and communicate in Estonian sign language. Additionally, pictures of finger spellings used in sign language are hidden along the larger trail, and these must also be found and collected along the way to form a word at the finish line and learn the corresponding sign. The youth of the youth center are responsible for the cafe's assortment.

The Tartu Nature House also celebrates the International Fascination of Plants Day for the 9th time, and in front of the nature house, there will be a plant sale and exchange, and the diversity in the urban environment will be explored, i.e., what plants can be found on Lille Street.

The proceeds from the cafe and plant sales will go towards caring for the nature house's small animals and the green friends in the winter garden.

Please note! Cash payment only.

The adventure day is for everyone who is friends with nature, loves adventures and active movement, wants to acquire new knowledge and skills, and simply spend quality time with friends. The entire adventure day is organized as an environmentally friendly event. The organizers ask participants to arrive either by public transport, bicycle, scooter, or on foot.

On each day of the adventure, participants will also take part in a raffle, where nature-friendly products and consumer goods will be raffled off. The raffle will take place twice, and the winners will be announced on the spot.

The adventure day takes place both at the Lille youth center and on the premises of the Tartu Nature House.

The adventure day will take place on May 15 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Opening remarks and initial instructions will be given in the nature house park, with the finish line and raffles in the yard of the Lille youth center. The Sign Language Cafe will be open from 12:00 PM to 3:30 PM in the yard of the Lille youth center.

“Let’s start a green-thumbed club!”

At the Lillekese Youth Center, we’ve found gardening to be the perfect activity for this. We started one Wednesday by weeding the flower bed in front of the Lille House gate. We divided up the tasks on the spot—one person weeds here, another

The Voice of Youth in the Action Plan

Actively involving young people in developing the youth center’s action plan is an important step in fostering their sense of participation and responsibility. Children aged 7–11 are able to successfully express their interests and ideas when provided with a safe and supportive environment. One effective way to do this is through a monthly brainstorming session, during which young people can freely suggest activities and topics. Young people’s opinions matter and have a real impact on the life of the youth center. In addition to the idea generator, it is important to gather ongoing feedback on daily activities to understand what resonates with young people and what needs to be changed. The youth worker’s role here is to guide: to help make ideas more concrete, then link them to an action plan, and involve partners as needed. Even with younger children, simple tools such as voting, drawing, or discussion circles can be used. In a young person’s life, everything changes very quickly: what was relevant two weeks ago
